The Jamgon Kongtrul Labrang is very happy to announce
the construction of RIGPE DORJE INSTITUTE in Pullahari, Nepal,
the main seat of His Eminence Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche.

Dedicated to his Root Teacher, the SIXTEENTH GYALWANG KARMAPA RIGPE DORJE, the Institute is the Heart-Wish of the THIRD JAMGON KONGTRUL, LODRO CHOKYI SENGE for the benefit of successive generations of students and practitioners of the Buddhadharma. The Third Jamgon Kongtrul dedicated many years to the design and programs for the Institute.
The fulfilment of the Heart-Wish is made possible through the generosity of CHODRON FOUNDATION, USA. The 57,000 square feet building estimated to cost over US$ 1,000,000 is expected to be completed by the end of year 2001. Thereafter, the artwork, finishing and furnishing are likely to take another year.
As envisioned by the Third Jamgon Kongtrul, the Institute would provide an environment of openness that is conducive and inspirational to the pursuit of deeper understanding and appreciation of the Buddhadharma. The Institute's programs would fulfil a broad range of aims and activities. They would include daily meditation and practice; progressive levels of teachings of the Buddhadharma; translation and publication of Buddhist texts and contemporary teachings; discussions between different Buddhist schools and between the different religions; examination of contemporary issues within the context of Buddhism; the exploration of the relationship between Buddhism and contemporary psychotherapy, medicine and other related disciplines of contemporary life.
The Third Jamgon Kongtrul also had the wish that qualified masters and teachers would teach and guide the Institute's activities. In particular, the Third Jamgon Kongtrul requested the VERY VEN. KHENPO TSULTRIM GYAMTSO RINPOCHE to be the Institute's Principal Teacher as well as the Retreat Master of Pullahari's traditional three-year Mahamudra Retreat Centre.
Through his wisdom and compassion, Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche has skilfully guided the Pullahari retreat centre and established the RIGPE DORJE PROGRAMS for lay students conducted annually in winter and spring since 1995. He has fulfilled the wish of the Third Jamgon Kongtrul in making Pullahari a place for Buddhist study and retreat and in resounding its fame and qualities throughout the world.
At Pullahari, the age-old traditions of Karma Kagyu rituals and practice in the monastery and retreat centre continue side by side with study and practice by lay Buddhists from around the world. The songs of the glorious lineage teachers like Milarepa resound joyously from the Stupa of the Third Jamgon Kongtrul, reverberating the atmosphere with the melodic sounds of Dharma that continuously clarify the view of the sacred practice tradition.
