His Eminence the Fourth Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche was born in the wood pig year in Central Tibet on the 26th of November 1995. His birth was prophesied by His Holiness the Seventeenth Gyalwa Karmapa, Urgyen Trinley Dorje, Supreme Head of the Kagyu Lineage, who also confirmed the authenticity of his incarnation.
