"The Irreversible Lion's Roar"

| The school, which enables a firm understanding of the abiding nature in its ultimate sense, is Shentong, because it clarifies primordial awareness of genuine reality as being a union of luminosity and emptiness, thus eliminating both extremes. Its emptiness excludes the extreme of eternalism; its luminosity, the extreme of nihilism. Of all the many shastras expounding on this tradition, the primary is the Mahayana Uttara Tantra Shastra, which clarifies this union of emptiness and luminosity as being the Buddha-nature and does this through careful examination of what is called, "the seven vajra bases."
